about allen

Allen Gilmore is an award winning, professionally trained actor, director, and instructor, who has always found his calling on the stage.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Allen attended the prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), where he began honing his craft with some of the city’s most distinguished instructors. After high school, Allen attended the world-famous Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he trained professionally as an actor with master teacher Stella Adler at the Adler Studio. He holds a BFA in acting from the Juilliard Theater Center.

Then, after earning his degree, Allen enlisted in the United States Army Infantry to serve his country — but he didn’t leave his passion for theatre behind when he was deployed. While stationed in Germany, Allen was able to channel stagecraft into service, directing three shows at the U.S. Army Station Baumholder Playhouse (including one that would go on to win the “Best New Play” award in the U.S. Army Europe Entertainment Division’s Tournament of Plays).

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Allen began a decades-long professional career on the stage, which continues to this day. He’s proud to have performed on stages across the globe, exploring an expansive range of challenging roles and bringing life to inspiring characters and stories.

Allen is a member of the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and the Screen Actors Guild / American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). He is a 2015 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow, 2015 3Arts Prize recipient and proud Congo Square Theater Company ensemble member. He is a 2019 Court Theater Nicholas Ruddall Prize recipient.
